Farm management software start-up will receive mentoring from Microsoft business, tech and marketing experts.
Farm management software start-up Farmflo today announces that it has been selected to join Microsoft’s Accelerator Programme in London.
The Accelerator Programme is a global initiative led by Microsoft Ventures to support a small group of high-potential start-ups. The programme also has dedicated hubs in Bangalore, Beijing, Berlin, Paris, Seattle and Tel Aviv.
As part of the programme, Farmflo will receive 1:1 mentoring from Microsoft‘s business, tech and marketing experts, as well as being given access to Microsoft services such as Azure Cloud – the company’s cloud computing platform and infrastructure – which is worth £500,000 (approx. €675,000) to Farmflo over the next three years, and will see over 60 new jobs created in the agritech sector in the UK and Ireland.
Jason Devenney, co-founder and Chief Executive of Farmflo, comments:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Farmflo, and it’s humbling that a tech giant such as Microsoft is getting behind us. Sustainable agriculture is going to become increasingly important in the coming years, with farmers needing to make their farms more productive to feed our planet’s growing population. Our aim is to support farmers in producing more with their finite resources, and ensuring consumers know exactly where their food comes from.”
Warwick Hill, CEO-in-Residence and MD of Microsoft Ventures, London adds:
“We look forward to welcoming Farmflo into our Accelerator Program. We see Farmflo’s products and services as highly innovative and vital to the sustainable agriculture sector – we are happy to be involved.”
